In the fall of 1939, the Department of Experimental Physics of the Faculty of Physics and Mechanics was renamed the Department of Technical Electronics. It is from this moment that the department of “Physical Electronics”, the successor of which is the scientific group “Physical Electronics”, traces its history as a powerful educational and scientific division of the Polytechnic University.

Currently, the research group “Physical Electronics” is conducting work in almost all areas of modern physical electronics: vacuum and emission electronics; gas-discharge and solid-state electronics; optoelectronics and quantum electronics, microwave electronics and high-current electronics, nano- and bioelectronics.
